Living in Perivale

Perivale is a suburb in the London Borough of Ealing, 9.5 miles west of Charing Cross in Central London.

Perivale is a popular West London suburb surrounded by large areas of public open spaces to the North at Horsenden Hill and to the South at Perivale and Pitshanger Parks.

The area divides into three distinct areas with shopping at the Medway Village, Bilton Road and Pitshanger.

The housing stock ranges from Victorian and Edwardian villas through inter war suburban terraced and semi-detached housing and later modern apartments.

Perivale has two golf courses: Ealing Golf Club and Perivale Golf Course.

Many people will be familiar with the areas major landmark building – the splendid Hoover building on the main A40

Until the 18th century Perivale was called Little Greenford or Greenford Parva, to distinguish it from Great Greenford.
Before the residential building expansion of the 1930s, the fields of Perivale were used to grow hay for the working horses of Victorian London, a scene described in the ending of John Betjeman's poem 'Return to Ealing'

Schools in Perivale

There are a number of primary schools in the Perivale area including St John Fisher, Perivale Primary, Vicar’s Green and North Ealing. The main secondary education is provided by the Woodland Academy.

In addition, there are a wide range of pre-school facilities and private educational establishments.
