If you’re buying or renting a Chiswick property then relax - you’re just 20 minutes or less away from some great destinations. Take the train or the Tube, hop on a bike or grab your car keys and head to one of Orchards of London’s top five locations that are on Chiswick’s doorstep.
1. Sloane Square
Wear your pearls or slip-on loafers and make your way to Sloane Square for some people watching and high-society shopping. Our suggestion would be to reserve a table at The Botanist restaurant for lunch, sashay around the shops and end with a ‘Sloane’s Champagne Classic’ cocktail at the Sloane Square Hotel, before making the 20 minute Tube journey back to Chiswick Park.
As well as the wide open spaces and profusion of cute cafes, most people who aren’t Wandsworth residents make the short journey to SW17 to eat at Chez Bruce - the multi award-winning restaurant on Bellevue Road. Chiswick dwellers can simply take the train from Chiswick mainline station and alight at Wandsworth Town around 12 minutes later.
If you’re prone to belting out a verse or two of Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, Twickenham Stadium is your natural home. With traffic on your side, you can drive from Chiswick to Twickenham - the second largest stadium in the UK and the 4th largest in Europe - in under 20 minutes. It’s the home of England’s rugby union team as well as hosting NFL American Football matches and concerts by everyone from Rihanna to the Rolling Stones.
This National Trust property is a short 17 minute drive from Chiswick, and it quickly transports visitors away from the hustle and bustle of London life. This Georgian country house estate features a neo-classical mansion dating back to the 1570s and an 18th century formal garden. There’s also a weekly parkrun in the magnificent grounds - every Saturday from 9am - so pack your trainers.
Saddle up for the 19 minute cycle (at a moderate pace) to Kensington Olympia. This exhibition centre, event space and conference venue hosts some of the UK’s leading trade and public shows, including wedding exhibitions, music events and the Ideal Home Show at Christmas.
