Ealing Property and Architecture
Primarily developed from the mid 19th century, Ealing was created as a bastion of bourgeois respectability with typical Victorian architecture ranging from terraces through to larger detached residencies to the north in the sought after Castelbar and Montpelier areas, whilst the Brentham Estate which borders these areas comprises coveted and highly priced Victorian cottages and the Art Deco Greystoke Estate offers a range of good sized three and four bedroom family homes.
Furthermore overlooking Ealing Common and in the surrounding roads you will find an array of grand Victorian houses and conversion flats, whilst in West and South Ealing there are a mixture of terraced Victorian, 1930s houses and again converted flats.
Ealing Shopping and Entertainment
Uxbridge Road plays home to a localised parade of shopping facilities to include your usual variety of newsagents, grocers, takeaway food outlets and a variety of coffee shops, cafes, delicatessens and restaurants including a Nando’s, in all offering a range of fare from across the world.
Central Ealing, in the area of the Mall and The Broadway, provides your more commonly known stores and eateries including Marks and Spencer’s, Next, HMV and TKMaxx to name but a few; interspersed between the likes of Burger King, McDonalds, Subway, Coffee Republic and Starbucks, and also playing home to two shopping centres in those of Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre and Arcadia. Local supermarkets include a Safeway, a Waitrose and a Sainsbury’s. One of the notable public houses can be found on the corner of The Mall and The Broadway ‘The Town House’, and is set in a majestically imposing period building.
Local cinemas include the Cineworld at Hammersmith and the Vue cinema situated on the Royale Leisure Park, whilst ‘Questors’ is Ealing’s theatre, which can be found off Mattock Lane, and represents one of Europe’s largest community theatres offering around 20 shows a year coupled with a variety of courses and workshops.
Ealing Leisure and Parks
Ealing and the surrounding area provides a variety of leisure centres which include Gurnell Leisure Centre offering a fitness centre, swimming pools, dance studios, outdoor facilities and a range of group exercise classes.
Reynolds Sports Centre is situated in nearby Acton and provides a sports hall, dance studio and a multi use outdoor games area, group classes include body conditioning, circuit training and Pilates. Further venues include Acton Swimming Baths and Twyford Sports Centre.
Locally there are a wide variety of Parks and Gardens which include Ealing Common, Walpole Park, Lammas Park and arguably most notably Gunnersbury Park which is a large leafy park set between Brentford and Acton offering a range of things to do such as enjoying formal gardens, green open spaces, lakes, historic buildings and play and sporting facilities.
Local Train Stations
There are numerous local railway and tube stations, the closest to our office being that of Ealing Common, with further stations including Ealing Broadway, North Ealing, West Acton and Acton Town amongst others.
